Measurement: 8" across
Cerys Belcher shared with us:
I am a 19 year old neurodiverse student in my first year at the University for Creative Arts in Farnham, studying a BA Hons in Ceramics & Glass.
The Rosalind Franklin DNA dish was a test piece for my Ceramics A Level course and part of a series of work that I produced celebrating the life and work of influential women in history, in particular the Suffragettes. Whilst Franklin was not part of the Suffragette movement, I opted to use the Suffragette colours as part of my wider body of work as her contribution, though recognised today, was largely unacknowledged in her lifetime My creative influences for this series of work included the artist Grayson Perry, ceramicists Barbara Chadwick and Sylvia Meschia, Sarah King the illustrator and George Butler the artist and reportage illustrator.
Currently, at university I am working on a series of tiles influenced by the Cornish landscape.
